Our Story

Mindman came into being shortly after the transformative events that took place in South Africa after the release of Nelson Mandela and the general election giving voting rights to the majority.

South Africa has and still is experiencing significant transformation – at all levels of society, within private as well as public enterprises. Coupled with the effects of an increasing globalized world not only were entities exposed to transformation within the country but also having to compete in an ever increasing globalized environment. When presented with huge challenges, significant transformation, entities invariably adopt a victim mindset. Mindman’s initial work all focused on changing the mindset from one of "victim to victor" – how to step out of the current situation and be able to face the realities and fully grasp at the available opportunities and attempt to create a future that is significantly different to both past and present.
Mindman’s initial program "Free to Win" was exceptionally received and thousands of individuals experienced the program – in the process taking responsibility for their own lives, their immediate environments and attempting to create a future totally different to their past.

As the world flattened and globalization increased it became evident that the pressures and transformative experiences were not unique to South Africa – it was being experienced in the rest of the world as well. Globalization, increasing pace of change and the increased availability of and lowering cost of communication technology was causing organizations to really be able to take a global view of where to procure, where to manufacture, where to sell. Manufacturing operations no longer need to be where products are sold. Goods could be manufactured in the East, sold in the West. Boundaries and protections prevalent for decades crumbled.
Whilst many early adopters benefited a large majority have been caught unawares. Individuals find their jobs outsourced to lower cost providers, organizations cease to exist. Wherever we go, South Africa, United States, UK, Germany, the story and experiences we hear are all the same...

Mindman evolved from the initial program of helping entities take responsibility, adopting a victor approach to one of how is it possible with this continuing transformation and change that appears to be accelerating, to create technologies that can help and support entities (individuals / teams / organizations) cope and positively react to challenges coming our way. Mindman adopted the slogan, "a Change Resiliency Company".

What is "change resiliency" you might ask? Change resiliency is the set of practices, toolsets, methodologies and philosophies required to be adopted at the individual, team or organizational level to ensure continuing future success. Boom and bust cycles are typical of environments where a constant stream of adoption of change has not taken place. Current success is not an indicator of future success. In today’s environment we cannot just rely on the present – that which we know and are comfortable with. Increasing globalization continues to be one of the primary drivers of continuous change affecting environments.

Mindman now focuses on developing and implementing products, processes, toolsets, methodologies and philosophies that empower individuals, teams, organizations become resilient to changes being experienced. The focus is on the future - and how do we make ourselves at the individual, team and organizational level more resilient to new demands coming our way. If we become more resilient, we need not fear any future, any changing circumstances as we will have adopted the approaches required to succeed, the ability to change demands into opportunity...

When we look at the changes being experienced we see it across all industries. Some might experience it earlier than others, but over the next decade it will touch everyone’s lives, their industries and how they see and experience the present and their prospects for the future.

Mindman focuses on all the various parties to the value creation process: within organizations both the leaders as well as employees, clients as well as providers of goods and services, within education both students as well as educators. Within Financial Services both the Provider as well as the Client.

No one will escape being touched in one way or another – if not yet, it will come. Our advice, be prepared...become resilient; don’t wait until you hit the bottom of the cycle before you try to doing something about it – because if not too late it is a hugely painful process. Be wise, become resilient, while there is still time...
